5 signs that your agent has given up!
Usually when a real estate agent lists your house for sale everyone are best friends and happy to start the process. There’s constant contact and everything is new and exciting. Unfortunately for varying reasons it doesn’t always last. Remember most agents are paid by commission, so they will prioritise easier to sell properties over others. If you have had any of these experiences listed, then there is a good chance that your agent has lost energy and may have given up on the sale.

-
By far the biggest clue is that the agent has “recommended” that you cut back on open houses. Open houses may get quieter over the weeks, but they are imperative. I’d rather have one person through an open house than not open the house at all.
-
Your weekend open house times will either be early in the morning or late in the afternoon to leave the premium spots for other properties.
-
The contact will slow down, or another agent will start to contact you. (often a junior agent)
-
In some cases, your agent will get noticeably frustrated with you.
-
Buyer activity reports will be few and far between.
It’s not professional for an agent to do any of these things and it is usually caused by frustration. The best thing to do is to have a face-to-face meeting to get on the same page. The main reason that a house doesn’t sell or takes a long time to sell is that the price is too high. A good agent will admit that they have made a pricing error if they have and will work extra hard to get a good result. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s easier to withdraw from the process and concentrate on other “more saleable” properties. It can be expensive to change agents but sometimes it is necessary. Other times a price reduction along with a solid game plan going forward is the way to go.
